If there are strong teeth on either side of a missing tooth, then sometimes a bridge can be used to replace a tooth which has been lost. Some bridges to replace front teeth are adhesive, and are simply bonded to the teeth next to the space. To replace back chewing teeth it’s usually necessary to place  crowns on the teeth either side of the space with a replacement tooth attached in between. Nowadays bridges are less popular, as many patients prefer to have an implant instead, but bridges are less expensive and quicker to do, so are still a good option in some situations.
